Does anyone else feel like they’ve been noticing Japandi style everywhere lately?! In this neutral Japandi bedroom design, the fusion of Japanese minimalism and Scandinavian simplicity creates a peaceful ambiance that embraces the principles of both design aesthetics.
Japandi style, a harmonious blend of Japanese and Scandinavian design influences, brings together the best of both worlds. It combines the Zen-inspired minimalism of Japanese design with the cozy warmth and functionality of Scandinavian interiors. The result is a space that is comfortably chic, uncluttered, and inviting.
In this neutral Japandi bedroom design, we’ve picked a selection of unique pieces that lean into the ease of California Casual style while embodying the principles of Japandi design. Let’s take a closer look at the pieces that turn this bedroom into an oasis of relaxation!
Starting with the centerpiece of the room, we have the Elwood White Oak Queen Bed from CB2. The solid white oak frame, certified sustainable by the Forest Stewardship Council, features a Craftsman-inspired cutout at the footboard. Upholstered in ivory wool bouclé, the headboard bolster is held in place by removable saddle-leather straps with antiqued brass buckles, both functional and decorative—a true California Casual touch!
Next, we have the Lobos 6-Drawer White Wood Dresser by Brett Beldock. Its curved silhouette adds a touch of 80’s nostalgia, while the ivory nappa leather drawer fronts give off a casual elegance. Made with mindi wood, the push-to-open drawers provide ample storage space, a perfect combo style and functionality.
To anchor the room and amp up the cozy atmosphere, we’ve chosen this woven ivory area rug. This flat-weave wool rug has an interesting texture to provide a little depth to the neutral color palette of the room. The simple design adds warmth and comfort underfoot while capturing the easy essence of Japandi and California Casual styles.
To add a little seating at the end of the bed, we’ve chosen the Andee Upholstered Bench. This luxurious cream velvet bench boasts curved silhouette, coordinating perfectly with the dresser. I love incorporating seating at the end of the bed if space allows, providing a convenient spot to set things down or slip on some shoes.
How cute is the Severna Ceramic Accent Table from Target?! With its bell-shaped tabletop and globular base, this ceramic table adds an eye-catching element to the room. The unique texture adds a little visual interest and leans into the organic aspect that’s so important to Japandi style.
No cozy bedroom is complete without the perfect set of throw pillows. This set on Etsy is pre-coordinated to make selecting a combo as easy as hitting “add to cart”. This set of moss green, floral rust and cream striped pillows all add a touch of nature to the space.
To add some depth and create an illusion of a larger room, we’ve chosen the Aria Floor Mirror from Urban Outfitters. With its organic shaping and wavy, blob silhouette, this mirror gives the space a whimsical-meets-modern look. Its unusual metal frame complements the Japandi style while reflecting light into the bright and airy room.
With these pieces, the neutral Japandi bedroom design fully captures the essence of California Casual and Japandi styles. The neutral color palette, organic textures and minimal furniture pieces come together to create a peaceful space that promotes relaxation and serenity.
