About a year ago I did some staging work for Pomona Antique Mart. I haven’t had a chance to repost the photos to my new blog platform until now. I did this staging when I still had my little space towards the back of the store. Little did I know at the time that I would actually soon be moving into the this bigger space up in the front of the shop.
Before
Before I did the staging, the front corner of the antique mart looked more like a storage unit than a shop. You could barely move within the space and the merchandise was a hodge podge of items…
After
After the area had been entirely cleared out, my job was to curate a new collection of items and set up new displays within the space. BUT I could only use items that were all ready available inside the antique mart. And I could only choose from a select number of booths.
In the new space I created a set-up that looked like a small apartment living room. There was a sitting area, a desk/work area, and a dining area. I had walkable pathways around each section and I tried to incorporate a mix of large and small items. There were no “display only” pieces in this space. Everything was available for purchase.
I had a lot of fun making over this area, and in retrospect, it was like practice for when I moved into the space! It was a little challenging having to choose from pieces that I didn’t personally select, but I was definitely still able to find things that fit my style.
I hope you enjoy the photos. Thanks for reading! – Nicole Mendez, Curator
