I’ve been wanting to design an equestrian-inspired children’s space for a while now, and am so happy with how this colorful horse-themed kid’s room came out! The key to curating this space was finding a balance between sophistication and fun. Creativity is key when designing for kids, and this space is made to let imaginations run wild. The horse-themed elements add a sense of charm and character, while the vibrant colors bring joy and playfulness to the room.
First things first, let’s talk about that hanging headboard. I’m so into the look of these cool faux leather straps that give a nod to the world of horses. Paired with the simple wooden framed bed, it’s an invitation to hop in and dream up some wild adventures!
The rug in this room is just pure fun. Its orange checkers and shag texture are full of youthful energy! Not only is it a great base for the equestrian-inspired items, but its soft surface is perfect for playtime.
Every kids room needs an ultimate chill spot. I’m all about this vegan leather bean bag chair from West Elm! This thing is not only stylish, but it’s also the perfect nook for reading a book or daydreaming about pony adventures.

We all know that kids love their favorite blankets! I found not one, but two cute blankets that could add some pops of light blue to the room. There’s this chic Palermo Cotton Throw from Serena & Lily, but let’s be real, kids can be a little rough on things. Target always has affordable and cute textiles. I found this budget-friendly alternative from Hearth & Home with Magnolia that still looks fantastic in the space.
Complementing the fun striped blanket is this vintage-look horse race pillow. It’s a little less cute-sy than our other horse decor, but really amps up the style while still being playful and fun.
The little raffia figurine on the dresser steals my heart! Its handmade look adds a character to the room, and it really brings a touch of whimsy to the design.
Last but not least for our horsey accents, we have this Southwestern horse print. It ties everything together and gives the room that perfect finishing touch. The minimal design keeps it a little more sophisticated while the playful subject matter just screams cute.
There you have it! I had the most fun curating this whimsical horse-themed kids room. Creating a balance of style and fun it key when it comes to kids spaces. Fun shapes and vibrant tones brighten up the more sophisticated elements in this colorful horse-themed kids room, making it a perfect space for little one’s imaginations to roam free.
