There’s so much to love about this contemporary foyer with jute runner, featuring organic textures and neutral tones characteristic of California Casual style. The minimalistic furniture pieces and rich layering make this simple space so understatedly chic.
The foyer design is anchored by this jute/sisal natural runner. The rug’s natural fibers and flat-weave construction give the space a relaxed, organic feel. Against the wall sits a waterfall-style console table with a curved design and lacquered finish from CB2. Inspired by the 1970’s, the contemporary shape adds a touch of sophistication while its linen surface keeps it from feeling too formal. Sitting atop the console table is a matte black terra-cotta vase, adding a bit of visual weight to the vignette.
A simple caned chair sits alongside the console, providing a comfortable spot for taking off shoes or waiting for a ride. The chair’s simple, streamlined design complements the understated aesthetic of the foyer.
Beneath the console in our foyer is a set of seagrass baskets from Pottery Barn, which provide a stylish storage solution for shoes, scarves, and other items. The baskets’ charcoal hue matches the darker accessories in the room, creating a cohesive look throughout the space.

I’ve been loving the look of this vintage textile wall art from Lulu and Georgia, but what I’m not loving is the price! Can you believe this dupe from Target is less than $100? Both wall hangings feature abstract shapes in muted colors, with the set of two mimicking the visual weight of the Lulu and Georgia piece.
Overall, this contemporary foyer design is the perfect entryway to a laid-back California home. Neutral tones, organic textures, and simple silhouettes come together to create a warm and welcoming space that sets the tone for the rest of the interior.
