I had so much fun pulling together this mid-century meets boho living room, creating a space that combines style and family-friendly functionality. Always looking to keep my designs causal, my aim was to create a room that exudes a laid-back vibe while incorporating elements of the mid-century design style.

One of the key considerations in selecting furniture for this living room was budget. I wanted to find a couch that not only embodied style and quality but also fit within a reasonable price range. That’s when I came across the gorgeous Jones Square Arm Sofa from AllModern. Its rich rust color and soft velvet material immediately caught my attention. And the best part? It’s currently on sale, making it an incredible value for a sofa of this quality and chicness.

Keeping things fun and functional to appeal to the whole family, I opted for additional seating in the form of a boucle upholstered swivel armchair. The simple lines of the chair complement the mid-century aesthetic, and the cozy fabric is just so funky and fun. The woven poufs from Arhaus offer extra seating options while showcasing fun textures that lean into the eclectic vibe set by the orange and mist-colored area rug.

Speaking of the rug, the Jules Geometric Area Rug by Chris Loves Julia x Loloi takes the design to a whole new level. Its patterns and colors embrace the boho spirit and tie together the colors and patterns in the room. The rug serves as a perfect the foundation upon which the rest of the space is built.

In a well-designed living room, lighting plays a vital role in creating a cozy atmosphere. To achieve this, it’s important to incorporate different types of lighting. This adjustable brass floor lamp and smaller brass task lamp are two stylish options in brass finishes. With their warm glow and sleek designs, these lamps add a touch of sophistication while illuminating the space. By strategically placing these lamps throughout the room, it’s easy to achieve a cozy ambiance that invites relaxation and comfort.

To further enhance the mid-century aesthetic, I incorporated warm walnut tones and funky shapes in the coffee and side table choices. The Panos Acacia Wood Coffee Table from Crate and Barrel is a standout piece that effortlessly adds a touch of sophistication to the living room. Its unique design and acacia wood construction provide a perfect balance between elegance and casual charm.

No living room is complete without an art piece that serves as a focal point on the walls. In this case, I chose the mesmerizing Silver Sea Moon (taken in Mammoth Lakes – you know I love a California reference!) photograph from Minted. This artwork brings a serene and organic feeling to the space, grounding it in tranquility and creating a captivating visual centerpiece.

This living room design embraces the best of both worlds—mid-century and boho—resulting in a space that radiates comfort and style. The warmth of the walnut finishes, the eclectic patterns, and the fun textures all come together to form a harmonious and stylish living room.
